Mobiles in a box
Submitted by Brett Davidson on Tue, 10/14/2008 - 13:42.
I'm at the Open Space session organised by Tactical Tech, launching their book and CD, Mobiles in a Box: using mobile phones for advocacy.
It looks like a great resource. The book is divided into 3 sections: Tactics, Security and Resources. Tactics looks at various aspects of advocacy and under each offers examples of tactics and related case studies: Engaging with People and Encouraging Participation, People's Media, Coordinating and Mobilising, and Fundraising.
The Security section looks at how to secure your data, how to ensure confidentiality, and issues to consider such as potential government surveillance or legal requirements to hand over information in specific cases.
The Resources section offers an overview of tools, some basic how-to information, and useful links.
Lucky session participants got a free copy, but you can check it out online at http://mobiles.tacticaltech.org/, or order a copy through mobiles@tacticaltech.org. It's licensed under Creative Commons.
